Selecting a stationery hardware manufacturer requires more than comparing unit prices. ISO’s 2022 Survey recorded over 1.2 million valid ISO 9001 certificates worldwide, showing how widely quality systems are used. Yet certification alone is not proof of consistent clips, rings, fasteners, or binding parts.
Ask to review the certificate scope, internal audit schedule, corrective-action records, and calibration controls. During a factory assessment, inspect incoming metal, coating thickness, assembly pressure, and packaging protection. A documented process should connect each batch to inspection results. Records matter. Confirm that operators follow approved work instructions, not informal habits. An expired calibration label can quietly weaken reliable measurements.
For shipment inspection, request an AQL 1.5 plan based on ISO 2859-1 sampling tables. AQL 1.5 is not a promise that exactly 1.5% of products will be defective. It defines a statistical acceptance level for a specific lot size, inspection level, and sampling plan. The purchase agreement should classify critical, major, and minor defects clearly. It should also state the acceptance and rejection numbers before production begins. Check sample quantities, defect photos, and reinspection rules. Numbers can mislead. A supplier may pass sampling while hiding process variation. Trend analysis across several lots is stronger evidence than one favorable report. A quality system can still fail in practice, especially when production pressure changes inspection behavior.
